Epic Care Services and Facilities include:

Medical Oncology
Our doctors are cancer specialists, oncologists with expertise
in the diagnosis, staging, and coordinated treatment of cancer.
In initial detailed consultation visits, they will order and review
all necessary diagnostic test results and discuss treatment options
best suited for your condition. Your oncologist will supervise
the administration of your treatment, be it chemotherapy, immune-therapy,
newer biologic agents or experimental therapy. Our oncology-certified
nursing staff will administer your treatment in the comfort of
our own state-of-the-art, in-office infusion suite. Regular follow-up
visits with your oncologist will ensure your treatment is effective
and proceeding safely with a minimum of side effects. Be assured
you have open access to your oncologist to discuss any issues
of concern and to stay fully informed regarding all aspects of
your health and treatment.

Hematology
Our doctors are also certified hematologists, with expertise in
the diagnosis and treatment of blood disorders, including anemia
and other low blood counts, bleeding and blood clotting disorders,
lymphomas and leukemias. If indicated, bone marrow biopsies are
performed in our offices.

Radiation Oncology
We also utilize radiation therapy to eradicate tumors as well
as control certain benign growths. Using the most advanced technology,
such as multi-modality image fusion, intensity modulated radiation
therapy (IMRT), image guided radiation therapy (IGRT) and the
Active Breathing Coordinator (ABC), we are able to precisely target
and treat tumors with radiation, while protecting normal tissues.
In addition to external beam radiation therapy, prostate seed
implants and other brachytherapy (HDR) services are a planned
part of our treatment protocols.

Imaging - Positron Emission Tomography and
Computed Tomography (PET/CT)
Bayside Imaging: www.baysideimaging.com
In cancer care, PET/CT scans are commonly obtained to determine
the extent of the disease at diagnosis for staging and in follow-up
to evaluate response to treatments. A PET scan utilizes a radioactive
glucose isotope that highlights malignant cells, identifying malignant
lesions that may have been overlooked by conventional imaging
(CT, MRI or X-ray). PET provides information regarding the potential
malignancy of a lesion. CT provides detailed information about
the size, shape and anatomic location of the area of concern.
When both technologies are utilized simultaneously, the diagnostic
accuracy is greatly enhanced. We at Epic Care offer this diagnostic
service at our centers for your convenience and for our vigilance
in your care.
